Let’s face it, not all of us are the fashionistas we wish we were. We go into our closets looking for something fresh, hip and fun for our upcoming Family Photography Session but nothing feels quite right.  Then we head to our favorite shop and still, nothing catches our eye.  It’s hard enough trying to find something you love and then find matching outfits for Dad and the kids.

First of all, this is a special occasion!  You are investing your time and money to make beautiful art for your home.  Treat yourself, and get some new outfits.  Find something that speaks to you, but go a little bold!  Bold looks great in pictures.  I recently spoke to one of my favorite clients, Jennie who puts a lot of thought into each of her family’s sessions.  This is what she said, “I usually start with the season – Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter. I always think about what colors would go well at that time. My daughter is the most fun to dress, so I start with her. If her dress has patterns, we all wear solids and my son’s bottoms are patterned. If she wears a solid dress, my husband would wear a plaid or pattern. I usually pull out a solid color from what my daughter is wearing. For example, our upcoming September session my daughter is wearing horses on her dress and my son has the same pattern shorts.  I am wearing green for my dress, and my husband will wear chambray which are colors found in our kids clothes.  Our session will be at a farm with horses.  I love dressing for pictures and Jolie always captures exactly what I envision.”
